Matías Carrasco Jiménez
Hi there! My name is Matías (I like to be called Mati), I’m currently finishing my B.Sc in Economics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). As of April 2025, I find myself doing my final semester at UNAM. Previously (Winter 2024-2025) I was an exchange student at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. I also spent a semester (January-June 2024) studying proof based mathematics (Differential-Integral Calculus and Linear Algebra) at UNAM’s Faculty of Sciences.
From October 2022 to October 2024 I had the privilege of receiving a scholarship from the National Council of Humanities, Science and Technology (CONAHCYT), working as a research assistant for Dr. Fernando Alberto Cortés Cáceres, at UNAM’s Development Studies Program (PUED). Since November 2024 I’ve been working, also at PUED, as a research assistant for Dr. Iliana Yaschine Arroyo. Finally, since January of this year, I’ve been working at a PAPIIT-UNAM research proyect under the leadership of Dr. Mario Alberto Morales Sánchez and Dr. Francisco Reyna Salázar, titled "Determinants of the articulation of innovation systems from a comparative international perspective".
My research interests are centered around development economics (IOA and Structural Change) and multidimensional poverty.
I’m interested in pursuing an academic career in economics after graduate school. I'm about to start my graduate studies, the EPOG-JM (MSc in Economics), from September 2025 to June 2027. I will follow the B2 minor (Socioeconomic and ecological economics) at Roma Tre University and Sorbonne University, as an Erasmus Mundus Scholar.
